Elene Lekveishvili

The committee has chosen to support Elene Lekveishvili for mainly two reasons:
  1. She is one of the most promising young artists in Georgia but due to the endangered situation of this country and the global circumstances (Territorial occupation and antidemocratic influence by Russia, pandemic impact) she did not get the support she deserves.
  2. With our inputs (coaching and finance) we can help her to cope with the situation and improve it.
Here is Elene’s message:
“When I was in 11th grade during the COVID pandemic, even the simplest tasks became challenging. It was a time when students were gathering their applications for their desired universities. Unfortunately, I had to navigate this difficult process alone, but I was so determined to reach my goal that I tried my best to do everything right. During this tough period, I managed to enroll in Berklee University for the first time. While this achievement was a source of immense joy, it was also heartbreaking because, despite all my hard work, I could not start studying.
I explored many different paths, but I didn’t receive any of the financial help I had hoped for from the government of Georgia. Despite that disappointment, I decided to dedicate the next two years to studying ancient languages and philosophy. During this time, I reapplied to Berklee, driven by the same passion, even though it was a painful experience.
For a young person in a developing country, even saving up the money just to submit an application requires working long hours. Naturally, raising tuition fees for an American university is a monumental task for a single student, and this was certainly true in my case. Despite working three different jobs, I still struggled to cover the costs. The political and economic situation in my country only made things harder. Now that I’ve finally made it to Berklee and am approaching my fourth semester, majoring in one of the most challenging majors in Berklee _ Music Production and Engineering and performing, I sincerely hope that all the energy and sacrifice I’ve put in won’t be in vain.”
